đź’§ Why the EU Water Resilience Strategy Needs Execution, Not Just Ambition

The European Commission’s upcoming Water Resilience Initiative outlines an ambitious and timely agenda. With mounting pressure from climate change, pollution, and ageing infrastructure, Europe urgently needs smarter, more resilient water systems.

The strategy rightly prioritises digital transformation, better monitoring, and earlier intervention. But from where we stand — as a startup working closely with utilities in the field the biggest challenge isn’t the direction. It’s the delivery.

‍

🚧 The Missing Layer: Operational Insight

The strategy sets clear targets. But most utilities already know what needs to be done. The real friction lies in answering:

  • Where is infiltration or leakage actually happening?
  • Which assets are most at risk  and why?
  • How do we act today, not just in the next strategic cycle?

Policy alone won’t answer these questions. Operational insight will.
But many utilities are buried under disconnected reports and underused data.

‍

📊 What We’re Seeing Across Europe

Over the past year, we’ve worked with utilities in the UK, Nordics, Netherlands, and Germany. The same themes keep surfacing:

  • Data exists — but it’s not being used.
  • Teams are overstretched, with little time to turn reports into decisions.
  • CAPEX is available, but OPEX for digital solutions is harder to justify.
  • Most importantly: Utilities struggle to know where to begin.

The Water Resilience Strategy is needed. But execution must meet the realities on the ground.

‍

⚙️ Where InfoTiles Fits

At InfoTiles, we’re not building strategy we’re helping make it actionable.
We focus on turning existing utility data into clear, usable insight:

  • Quantifying I&I without requiring new hardware
  • Identifying critical risk zones in a matter of weeks
  • Supporting decisions with evidence, not assumptions
  • Scaling from scoped insight to full network monitoring

It’s why we created SewerIntelligence LITE to provide a starting point for those who want to move, but can’t commit to a full-scale digital rollout yet.

🤝 Let’s Talk Execution

We support the ambition of the EU Water Resilience Strategy  but we believe the next challenge is simple: turning ambition into action.

If you're navigating the same questions inside your organisation or working on the execution side of resilience, we’d genuinely like to hear from you.

We’ll share what we’re learning, and we’d like to learn from you too.
